About The University of Witwatersrand
One of the multi-campus locations in South Africa is The University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. It is a South African public research university located in the northern areas of central Johannesburg. It is popularly or commonly known as Wits University or Wits. The university first started from the mining industry, as do Johannesburg and Witwatersrand in general. It was founded in 1896 as the South African School of Mines in Kimberley, it is recorded as the third oldest South African University in continuous operation.
